Life of Pi Author Yan Martel Announces Bold New Odyssey: Son of Nobody to Release in March 2026
Yann Martel, the Booker Prize–winning author of Life of Pi, has announced the release of his first new novel in a decade. Son of Nobody is scheduled to be published on March 31, 2026, by W. W. Norton & Company
The novel reimagines the Trojan War through dual narratives. One follows Psoas of Midea, a goatherd’s son who joins the war and perishes; the second follows Harlow Donne, a modern-day Canadian academic who uncovers Psoas’s epic poem, The Psoad, centuries later. Martel’s story—styled as an epic in free verse—explores themes of memory, family, ambition, and the enduring echoes of ancient tales in the modern world.
Martel has described the book as a blend of Homer’s Iliad, Waiting for Godot, and All Quiet on the Western Front, all filtered through the lens of ordinary individuals whose stories challenge traditional heroic narratives
